Canadian artist, Alice Vander Vennen was inspired to create this joyful, colourful and lively composition following a recent residency in France. Her contemporary sculptural pieces often revolve around the concept of a vessel—a canoe-like form that symbolizes life’s journey. With an eye for colour, shape and exquisite detail, Vander Vennen assembles her ‘found’ objects—stones, polished copper, new and archival textiles to form a compelling narrative. These framed pieces can be hung horizontally or vertically.

Alice Vander Vennen trained as a sculptor at Calvin College, USA and at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Her work is held in public, private and corporate collections both here and abroad.
