About 3 Rocks with Melting Sun

This contemporary abstract painting of a landscape was created by a Canadian artist.

Bold colors and simple dynamic forms distinguish Aron Hill’s minimalist paintings.
Their approach to the landscape often includes central images of the sun and rocks. The bright yellow sun, a curved red line below it, is a powerful positive image that draws the viewer’s eye. The black rocks are stacked beneath the sun, and the canvas is framed by elegant curved shapes in deep blue, forest green, and tomato red. Hill counts among their early artistic influences the abstract work of Canada’s modernist Jack Bush known for his inspired use of simple form and vivid colors.

“I’ve always approached my work from the standpoint of figurative work, oddly enough and I’m always drawn to figurative work.” Aron Hill

Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
