About colour study 1

The distinctive minimalist colourful paintings of Aron Hill are inspired by the modernist art movement.

The colour field work of Aron Hill showcases their intuitive sense of colour and a deep respect for the dynamic form of modernists like Jack Bush. Hill also references French masters like Matisse as among their influences.
This is one of a series of acrylic and ink compositions that focuses on simply defined organic shapes-circles and curved bands of colour that intersect and create movement across the canvas. The colours—deep blue, hot pink, magenta, bright yellow and earthy brown overlap.

“Whether you like Matisse or not, the interest in pure colour I’ve always been fascinated by and drawn to. The idea of pureness in terms of colour and shape and that hard edge has always appealed to me.” Aron Hill

Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
