In August of 1998, pop artist Charles Pachter travelled to Newfoundland to explore its history, its culture and its people. Inspired by the stunning views, the rugged coastline and brightly coloured homes, Pachter painted this clever view of a house on the harbour as seen through the open trunk of a hatch back.Pachter is a beloved Canadian contemporary artist whose work often explores the Canadian landscape in fun and intriguing ways. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and twice a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal. He has honorary doctorate degrees from the Ontario College of Art & Design, the University of Toronto and Brock University. His paintings hang in public and private collections around the world.
