About Iris

Canadian artist Charles Pachter has long been cherished for painting pop art images that are patriotic and lift the spirits. This bold rendition of an iris is one of a new series of pieces illustrating flowers created in 2021. The dark purple, pink, white and violet flower head is fully open and sits in the center of the frame set against a bright blue backdrop. Charles Pachter was born in Toronto in 1942. He is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, and author. Pachter is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris. He is an Officer of the prestigious Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and twice a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal. He has honorary doctorate degrees from the Ontario College of Art & Design, the University of Toronto, and Brock University. His paintings and sculptures are in public and private collections around the world.
