One of Canada’s leading contemporary artists, Charles Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian, author and lecturer. His paintings hang in public and private collections around the world. Those of the Queen, moose, and maple leaf flag are pop icons of Canadian art. Pachter is known best for his humourous, often cheeky renditions of iconic national symbols typically painted in bold, simple forms. Toronto born, he holds several university degrees and honorary doctorates in addition to being an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal. Retrospective exhibitions of his work have toured France, Germany, Japan and India.
