About Rooster

This contemporary colorful print of a bird is by Charles Pachter.

Beloved for his playful pop art imagery, the Canadian artist produced a number of giclee prints in the 1960’s like this profile portrait of a rooster. The vivid color palette--tomato red, bright blue, lime and forest green, black and white is fresh and modern. “I said good morning to the rooster” is written in black type on the print. One of a series.

“While Pachter’s work shares some characteristics with Jim Dine and David Hockney, his style is resoundingly charming, singular and uniquely Canadian.” Troy Seidman

Charles Pachter studied at the University of Toronto, the Sorbonne in Paris, and at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the USA.
Among his many accolades, he is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a member of the Order of Ontario, a Chevalier of France’s Order of Arts and Letters, and a recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals.
