This stylized elegant and minimalist image of a picnic table is set against a northern Ontario landscape. Poised at the edge of a dock, the table is on the verge of tumbling into the water. Camped in Canadiana, the image is an example of Charles Pachter's skill in merging playful elements with deeply iconic imagery. Charles Pachter is a much-admired Canadian artistic polymath, his work merging humourous even irreverent elements including colour with deeply iconic imagery. This work on paper is framed.

A painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer and author, Pachter is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and twice a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal. He has honorary Doctorate degrees from the Ontario College of Art & Design, the University of Toronto and Brock University. His paintings are in public and private collections around the world.
