About Pageant

Canadian painter Christopher Langstroth has been an artist for more than thirty years and has won numerous awards for his compelling contemporary paintings. Pageant features a ‘gathering’ of several figures—abstracted images rendered in a rich colour palette of blue, red, orange, yellow, green, gray, black and white. Known for his use of impasto, the Toronto artist often applies thick layers of paint with knives to create visible texture and depth. His work typically dances between abstraction and figuration.

“In each painting, I’m searching for the most compelling combination of imagery and abstract paint quality.” Christopher Langstroth

“From a distance, Chris Langstroth’s works are stunning abstract paintings, but look closer and you’ll see distinct human shapes. By using thick paint and knives to apply multiple wet layers or dig through existing layers, he leaves evidence of his process in the finished product.”
