About Effervescence Black VIII

Hand forged from steel this abstract indoor sculpture is by Claude Millette. The steel cubes of the Effervescence series resemble tumbling dice that are stacked at daring angles. This edition is finished in a glossy black which accentuates its dynamic form. The Quebec artist is known for his playful and imaginative work designed to challenge our perception of balance and imbalance.

“By deploying in space, a minimum of matter for a maximum of effect, by giving it sometimes exuberant movements, at the limits of balance, I question the notions of gravity and stability.” Claude Millette

Claude Millette was born in Saint-Hyacinthe Quebec. He studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with revered sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been commissioned for many public art projects and have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Mexico.
