This playful pop art sculpture of a pine cone is by Canada’s Floyd Elzinga.

The Canadian artist is known for creating uniquely beautiful metalwork that is inspired by nature. This bronze piece emulates the natural shape and patina of a green pine cone. Every pine cone is hand forged with particular attention given to each stunning detail.

Floyd Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS. Elzinga has been an artist in residence in both India and Vietnam. At the foot of Everest, he had the unique experience of creating art from collected waste, and in Hanoi, he attended a symposium that attracted sculptors from all over the world to contribute to South East Asia’s largest sculpture park. Floyd Elzinga’s pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. He lives and works in Niagara, Ontario.
