About Crimson No 2
Shapes of deep fuchsia move across passages of dove grey, moss green and black in this abstract composition by Ivo Stoyanov. Stoyanov's paintings have a fresco-like quality, the taut surface of the canvas polished to a fine smooth finish. The work has a very clean edge and does not require framing. His work is created using a combination of pigment, wax, and marble dust."My paintings are meditative works, created through the layers of various colors and textures - like the layers of leaves on a woodland floor, each leaf adding a new level to my understanding of nature. I wish to bring this awareness to my audience and to create opportunities for dialogue." Ivo Stoyanov
Born in Bulgaria, Ivo Stoyanov has resided in Canada for many years. He received his Master's degree in Mural Painting from the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria (1990).
