Crombach has received support from public agencies including the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council.
Guided by an experimental approach and a deep-rooted fascination with materials and processes, Crombach produces sculptural work with subject matter that interrupts a nostalgic reading of the historical styles and decorative arts motifs he references. Through the addition of unexpected materials, details and gestures, his work creates contemporary confrontations and engages with natural history and other museum practices of collection, and display. Through this exploration, he creates a visual dialogue that not only reimagines the familiar but also challenges perceptions and encourages contemplation on the interconnectedness of nature and culture in our ever-evolving Anthropocene era.
