About Apple Blossoms: Spring
This contemporary abstract oil painting celebrates spring.Canadian artist Noreen Taylor’s expressive artwork explores colour, form, and pattern. Inspired by nature’s boundless beauty, Taylor often interprets the images she sees on walks in her own neighbourhood. Here, she uses pastel colors—pink and white against a green backdrop to convey the splendour of an apple tree in blossom. This joyful painting is highly textured— given its thickly applied paint. Each gestural brushstroke adds movement.
“The marvelous thing about Apple trees and their blossoms is their confounding mixture of delicacy and strength. On the one hand, each petal seems too fragile, so easily blown away with the slightest of breezes. Yet, each blossom has the strength to become a sturdy, fist-sized, and fully grown apple.” Noreen Taylor
