About Flying 1

This contemporary minimalist abstract landscape painting is by Pat Service.

A celebrated career, Canada’s Pat Service has been painting for decades. Known best as a landscape artist, Service has successfully explored different genres moving from realism to abstraction and finally minimalism. This painting appears to be an aerial view of the landscape—the undulating lines of the countryside create an intriguing pattern visible from the sky. Service’s form is pared down and her chosen palette--vivid, fresh, and modern—a tomato red backdrop with bright yellow lines makes the images jump from the canvas.

“When you are in your studio regularly you have lots of ideas and you want to try them all. Many famous artists do it (change styles) with no qualms at all.”
Pat Service

“At the core of Service’s work is a deep attention to the medium of paint and also to the effects of lines and other marks.” Beverly Cramp, arts writer/author

Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Pat Service is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.
