About Foothills
This contemporary minimalist landscape painting is by a Canadian artist.A cherished Canadian landscape painter, Pat Service has embraced various genres in a distinguished career that spans several decades. This painting is one of a series she completed that explores a more minimalist view of the landscape she saw from her car window on many a road trip from B.C. to Saskatchewan. The forms are simple and bold, the colours vibrant—bright yellow, aubergine, dark orange, and lime green. The undulating shape of the foothills in the background and the curve of the road offer movement.
“When going on a driving trip, I am caught by the excitement and anticipation of flying down the highway, noticing the side routes that offer different directions and different opportunities. I wonder, in another time, in another place, could I take that path?” Pat Service
