About My Favourite Orange Silk Cloth
Colour, fresh and vivid gives this classic still life by Pat Service a contemporary feel.A beloved bright orange silk cloth, draped over a table set with two patterned vases of colourful flowers draws the eye. A deep blue background adds perfect contrast. A tiny, framed photo of the artist’s son and a lone lemon provide ‘everyday’ charming details.
“French artists such as Matisse, Manet and Cezanne all did beautiful still life paintings. The warmth of their interpretation of their surroundings which often included the table where they ate their meals showed me the way to go. The colours of the flowers and the shapes of the objects all offered a feast.” Pat Service
