The velvety black backdrop of this abstract painting by Pat Service makes the colours pop. Considered one of Canada’s finest landscape artists, this striking minimalist series suggests flowers and greenery. Five distinct images inspired by the great outdoors are rendered in bright yellow, white, deep turquoise and gray. Service custom mixes her own glazes and paint to maximize the intensity of colour, a perfect contrast to black.

Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong and in several museum collections around the world.
