About Twin 2
Pat Service has painted florals throughout her long career. Here, a single blossom in a stunning celadon and yellow fills the canvas. Reminiscent of Andy Warhol, the Vancouver artist’s flowers are pared down to the essentials--simple shapes without leaves or stems. This is number two in a series of two. Displayed together, these florals make a dynamic statement.“The flowers with their radiance and intensity initiate the act of putting paint on canvas but they don’t control the result. The result has more to do with the curious act of ‘painting’, playing with hue, surface texture and mark making.” Pat Service
She acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
