About Laurentian
This contemporary mixed media landscape is by Peter Hoffer.Reminiscent of the great romanticists of the 19th century, Peter Hoffer’s landscapes are a blend of realism and impressionism. Hoffer uses scratches, markings, paint drippings, and thick coats of resin to add character to each mixed media piece. The result is thoroughly modern. This horizontal landscape offers a view of a stand of trees rendered in autumn colours—burnt orange and red set against a soft gray-blue sky.
“A landscape is continually evolving. Its topography consists of repetitive gestures of surfacing, resurfacing, and erosion. Exposed to the elements, scarred by the wind and shifting soils, the landscape reveals its own narrative.” Peter Hoffer
They are profound works from an artist with a clear vision.” Peter Simpson, The Ottawa Citizen
