Peter Hoffer’s elegant series of tree ‘portraits’ are modern landscapes. In this piece, one deciduous tree takes center frame, standing in a field dressed in full rich green foliage. Set against a lovely sky of soft pinks and turquoise, Hoffer bows a bit to the romantic tradition of landscape artists such as John Constable. The thick resin coat gives this piece a glossy sheen and makes it thoroughly contemporary.

He holds an MFA. from Concordia University and degrees from the University of Guelph and OCAD University. Hoffer has lived and worked in Toronto, New York City, Paris, Montreal and Berlin. He has exhibited widely at art fairs in Basel, Toronto, New York, Stockholm, London, Milan, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. His paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections.
