About Christine's World
At once intimate and engaging, Shani Mootoo’s photographs are portraits of a life. This image of a kitchen—the worn white cabinets, the fridge covered in notes and photos, the toaster and an old t.v. on the counter is from the artist’s childhood home in Trinidad. This is one in a series of photographs Mootoo called the ‘History Revisited Series’. Colourful and rich in detail each image is steeped in memories that capture a moment in time.“It is there in that house that I see my roots and I wanted to record the marks on it before time takes it away forever.” Shani Mootoo
This framed and matted giclee print is editioned, 1/10. Framed size is 21 x 27 inches. The print is also available in two larger sizes, 16 x 24 (framed 25 x 33 inches, edition of 8, $2,600); and 21 x 31.5 inches (30.5 x 40 inches framed, edition of 5, $3,400).
