About Parchment Series XXXlV

This contemporary embossed white mono print was inspired by nature.

Susan Collett is a masterful printmaker and an award-winning ceramic artist whose work is collected internationally.
This elegant and unique white print on hand-made Japanese washi paper appears to capture the delicate details of a tree branch. Collett’s work is influenced by her love of natural form, its textures and colours. By embossing the image, the print has visible texture and a sculptural effect is created. She favours the monoprint process which allows for only one image to be produced. Most printmaking allows the artist to make multiple images of an original. Edition 1 of 1 Framed.

“Working with clay influences the printmaking, encouraging a sculptural approach. The plates composed of stitched and reconstructed industrial roofing copper give a second reading of strength and organic tracings embossed into the paper, reaffirming perceptions of fragility and transience.” Susan Collett

Susan Collett graduated with a BFA in printmaking and ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art and won the institute's prestigious Agnes Gund Memorial Award. Collett is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts. She is a recipient of the Winifred Shantz Award from the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Collett was the artist in residence at the Collect Art Fair in London, UK in Feb/March 2025. Susan Collett's work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections.
