About CaELum

Inspired by the heavens, Canadian artist Viktor Mitic has created another captivating contemporary stainless-steel sculpture finished in 24 kt. gold. One of Mitic’s Constellation series, this enigmatic work owes its form to the abstract shape of paint splattering found on the artist’s studio floor. Re-imagined as a 3-D sculpture in two pieces, Caelum’s lustrous mirror-polished gold surface reflects light and its surroundings. The elegant black base — an integral part of the sculpture — represents the vast void of space and the gold stars. Caelum Is named after a constellation first discovered by an 18th-century French astronomer. The shape of the constellation was said to be reminiscent of a sculptor’s chisel. In Latin, the word Caelum means stars or heaven. (3 meters in height)

“Caelum defies gravity, inviting you to witness the celestial dance between ourselves, gold, and the cosmos.” Viktor Mitic
