About Rain Dance No 1
Art and nature collide in this ethereal abstract painting—one of a series created en plein air by Viktor Mitic. The ‘rain paintings’ are evocative landscapes rendered in expressive brushstrokes of blue, red, yellow, purple, white and black. As part of his process, Mitic exposed these canvases to gentle showers, thunderstorms and even hail. The effect on the form and the interplay of colour is dramatic.“The process yields a captivating topography, showcasing the ephemeral beauty born from the dynamic interplay of nature and artistic expression.” Viktor Mitic
"There is a strong suggestion of synaesthesia with sound and colour in these paintings as if a visual music present in their composition lifts them to a multisensory expression." Gary Michael Dault, Canadian arts writer
