Shayne Dark elected to the Royal Canadian Academy
Shayne Dark has been elected Member of the Royal Canadian Academy. Nine artists and designers were elected in 2018 and celebrated at the organization’s 138th Annual General Assembly in May. The event took place at the new Ottawa Art Gallery. The RCA is a professional organization of over 700 professional artists and designers from across Canada. Members are nominated and elected by their peers. Since 1880, the RCA has sought to celebrate excellence in the visual arts in Canada.
Oeno Gallery has exhibited and sold Shayne Dark’s innovative sculptures for several years. His new outdoor sculpture titled Intersect greets visitors to the gallery. The 17 foot tall abstract steel work is coated in an eye popping poppy red.
Dark’s work may be found in numerous private, corporate and public collections including Queen’s University, the Canadian Embassy in Prague, the City of Ottawa, the Federal Communications Commission, New York.
